babies 101

As our kids get older, our conversations about the baby in mommy's tummy gets better.  Here's a tidbit of what was discussed at dinner tonight:

-Andrew was concerned that the baby would "bonk it's head" as it came out of my stomach.
-He wanted to know how the baby would get clothes on before it came out and looked confused/disgusted when I told him babies come out naked and we dress them later.

-Ryan asked me how the baby gets in my tummy once again.  We dodge the bullet everytime and avoid talking about the particulars.  We aren't ready for that talk and knowing Ryan, the THOUSANDS of questions that would follow.  Anyways he came to the conclusion on his own that I just decide I am ready for a baby and the food I eat starts growing a baby.  Close enough.

-As I was describing how the baby gets out, Ryan declares "I'd really like to see that".
No Ryan, you wouldn't.  I told him he can see that when he's a Dad.

On another note, Happy Anniversary to me and the hubby.  7 years of bliss!

Baby girl- 32 weeks

Here's our baby at 32 weeks.  She's measuring big (of course) and is already estimated at 4 lb. 13 oz.  I love it how her little face is filling out!  Cute already.

mommy's weekend away

One of my BYU roommates Marcy got married this last weekend and I got to go...all by myself..for the whole weekend!  As much as I missed my kiddos and Spencer, it was so much fun to hang out and shop and spend time with my little sister Allie.
Marcy and the girls from Madison #9.  We haven't all been together for over 8 years.  It was so fun to chat and catch up.

The beautiful bride and her new husband John...Thank you guys for getting married and giving me a good excuse to have a fun weekend away!

Kindergarten: First full day and ... the Bus

Look, I got them ready all by myself.

At the bus stop (across the street).

He didn't seem to be scared, although I was.
He's too little to go to school (or
at least too little to ride the bus),
we'd better keep him home.

Kindergarten!!!

All ready to leave to school
He looks too little to be standing in front of this big school!
All lined up ready to go,
bye Ryan! sniff sniff :)

Andrew's face as we were leaving. He was having lots of fun playing with Ryan on the playground.

last day...

Ryan's last day of freedom before school starts TOMORROW!

Life as we know it around here will not be the same once our Ryan starts school. We are all going to miss him! (I don't think Andrew realizes his best friend is going to be gone...all day long!)

last trip of the summer

Here I am in all my 29 week pregnancy glory. Yikes!
We strapped our kids reluctantly into the van for one more trip before school starts. Spencer and his brothers and Dad went on a big backpacking adventure so us girls gathered to keep each other company while the boys were away.

We tried to get the kids out and about. I think we did pretty good considering we had 6 kids under 5, including a 2 month old and a 2 week old!
I'm sure people were looking at me funny when I was holding little baby Adelaide. Am I having another baby??? Just really big still?
And of course we had to attempt family pictures. They actually went surprisingly well. Ryan was our perfect poser...Mabel, not so much.
The whole gaggle of Grange's. Those 3 monkeys in the front never all looked at the same time, but I still think they turned out pretty good!

Ryan holding his newest cousin. This was the first time he was holding her. He looked at her and said "Hi Adelaide, I'm your cousin Ryan". It was the cutest thing ever and I may or may not have teared up.

It was great having everyone together under one roof!
